  • Anything you like. I will teach you the basics of hand-building: how to make a pinch pot, coil with clay, attach handles, and make sure your pieces survive the kiln. Most people walk away with a mug, a bowl, a vase, or a butter dish. No limitations on how many pieces you make.

Come with an idea in mind or let the clay decide on the day. For more involved pieces like teapots or lamps, I run specific workshops for those.

  • Ochre’s workshops are a beautiful ‘entree’ into the world of clay. These classes are for those who have ‘wanted to try pottery for ages!’ or maybe have ‘but all the way back in high school!!’ through to those who ‘have been to so many pottery classes recently… I’m obsessed!’

The intention of Ochre’s Pottery Classes is to have you feeling spoilt in every way!!! These hand building classes are relaxed, fun.... and just a little sassy! Hosted at my beautiful light filled studio in Mullumbimby studio, 10ish minutes from Byron Bay, paired with a delicious (completely over the top) selection of local drinks and food!!!

You will be taught hand building basics… How to make a pinch pot, how to coil with clay, attach handles, legs etc. and how to make sure your pieces won’t blow up in the kiln! I promise you’ll leave having created a collection of beautiful pieces… a mug to a pot planter, a bowl to a soap dish! It is up to you to let your imagination take over.

  • After our workshop I will then glaze + fire your beautiful creations for you to pick up a few weeks later.

    Posting is also an option.

  • Of course! Please email to let Lauren know after booking.

The workshop is paired with tea, Allpress coffee and Bread Social pastries (vegan + Gf options by request)

  • My hope is that Ochre’s Workshops are something a little special. Just like booking a really lovely restaurant and having a beautiful meal, my ethos is to create an experience that offerings the perfect date, celebration, treat to yourself, or extra special catch up with someone you love.
